LUMECCA IPL

What is Lumecca?

Lumecca is an intense pulsed light (IPL) treatment designed to improve the appearance of sun damage, age spots, freckles, redness, and uneven skin tone. It uses broad-spectrum light energy to target unwanted pigmentation and vascular lesions while helping restore a more even, refreshed complexion.

What does Lumecca treat?

Lumecca can help improve sun spots, age spots, freckles, unwanted pigmentation, facial redness, and visible small blood vessels. It can be used on areas such as the face, neck, shoulders, chest, arms, and hands.

How does Lumecca work?

Lumecca delivers controlled pulses of intense pulsed light into the skin. The light energy is absorbed by pigment and targeted blood vessels, causing them to break down so the body can naturally clear them. The treatment can also stimulate collagen production and improve overall skin tone and clarity.

Is Lumecca painful?

Most patients describe Lumecca as a quick snapping or rubber-band-like sensation during treatment. A cooling system helps protect the skin and improve comfort. Treatment is generally well tolerated and typically does not require topical numbing.

How long does a Lumecca treatment take?

Treatment time depends on the area being treated, but an IPL session can often be completed in approximately 15–30 minutes.

What is recovery like after Lumecca?

Mild redness and warmth are common immediately after treatment and generally improve within a few hours. Pigmented spots may temporarily become darker and can appear more noticeable before gradually fading or shedding over the following days.

When will I see results from Lumecca?

Some patients notice improvement after their first treatment, particularly in pigmentation and redness. Results continue to develop as treated pigment and vascular lesions are cleared from the skin.

How many Lumecca treatments will I need?

The number of treatments depends on your skin condition and treatment goals. A series of treatments may be recommended for more extensive sun damage or pigmentation, with sessions typically spaced several weeks apart.

Can Lumecca treat sun damage?

Yes. Lumecca is particularly effective for addressing visible signs of sun damage, including brown spots, freckles, uneven pigmentation, and redness. It can help create a more even and brighter-looking complexion.

Can Lumecca treat redness and broken capillaries?

Lumecca can target certain superficial blood vessels and vascular lesions that contribute to facial redness and visible small blood vessels. Your skin will be evaluated to determine whether IPL is appropriate for the type of redness or vessels present.

Can Lumecca be used on darker skin tones?

IPL treatments require careful selection of treatment settings based on skin tone and pigmentation. Lumecca may not be appropriate for every skin type, particularly darker or recently tanned skin. Your skin will be evaluated before treatment to determine whether Lumecca is a safe and appropriate option.

Can I wear makeup after Lumecca?

Makeup can generally be worn after treatment once the skin has settled, unless otherwise directed. You should follow your specific post-treatment instructions and protect your skin from sun exposure with broad-spectrum sunscreen.

When will I see results from Lumecca?

Some patients notice improvement after their first treatment, particularly in pigmentation and redness. For facial treatments, full results typically develop over approximately 10 days, while treated areas on the body may take about two weeks to show their full results. Results can vary depending on the area treated, the amount of pigmentation or redness present, and individual skin response.
